Benefits

The 2000-hour doctoral internship appointment is a 12-month full-time position. Internships begin in early to mid-August. The current stipend is $39,000. Stipends are subject to federal, state and social security taxes.

  • 20 days of leave time and university holidays (the University includes the week between Christmas Day and New Year’s Day as paid holidays).

Each doctoral intern has a private office with telephone and voicemail, LAN-connected computer and access to a shared printer/scanner. Paid parking is available through the University.

Administrative Support

UMKC Counseling Services has one administrative personnel to assist interns. The Administrative Assistant will assist in orienting interns to the front desk procedures, schedules initial consultation and crisis walk in consultation appointments, helps with scanning documents, copying, record management and other tasks. The Administrative Assistant helps with ordering needed supplies, financial reimbursement and time keeping, along with distributing keys, computer set up, HR processes, etc. In addition, UMKC’s Information Services is available to provide technological and computer assistance. Individuals from this office assist with setting up interns’ email and computer access. Their staff also house and maintain the Titanium Record Keeping System and assist with other technical issues.

Maintenance of Records

UMKC Counseling Services permanently maintains all records of doctoral interns, including the APPI internship application, intern evaluations, supervision contracts, certificate of completion, summary of hours and more. Doctoral intern records are kept in either paper or electronic form.
