How it Works
Students participate in University College (UCollege) for a variety of reasons. Maybe they're interested in more than one career path. Maybe they need more time to explore their options. Maybe they're not sure what options are even available. Whatever the reason, we're here to help you see what's out there and identify a good fitting major, all while steadily working toward graduation.
Our Process
Partners in Your Success
When you join UCollege, you'll partner with Exploratory advisors and staff who will help you develop and complete your educational goals by providing academic advising and connecting you with potential academic units while offering ongoing support and evaluation as you progress through the program. You'll regularly engage with your team for strategic and enrollment planning, and end-of-term check-ins.
Registering for Classes
UCollege students must secure UCollege approval prior to enrolling for classes. If you've been participating in your advising and planning sessions and any other expectations established by your advisors, this won't be a problem. It might sound like an extra step, but this approval process helps ensure that you enroll in relevant courses the first time, potentially saving you time and money.
Declaring Your Major
Finally, the moment you've been working toward. By the end of your third semester (45 credit hours) or earlier, you'll be expected to declare your major and complete the administrative process of transitioning to your new academic unit.
If you're unable to make your decision by this deadline, you'll have the option to provide an academic plan for the upcoming semester and petition University College for permission to continue.
