Biography
Kelly Freeland joined Student Health and Wellness as a part time nurse practitioner in 2018, not long after semi-retiring to this area with her husband. Kelly grew up in Independence, MO, obtained a B.S. in Biology/Psychology from Missouri State University (1981) and a BSN from William Jewell College (1984). Shortly after that, she moved to Oregon. While in Oregon, she received an MSN in Community Health Care Systems (1991) and a Post Graduate Family Nurse Practitioner Degree (1994) from Oregon Health Sciences University, Portland, OR. Over the years, Kelly has worked in several rural family practice clinics caring for patients from newborn to over 100 years of age. But it was while working in college health clinics in Oregon and at Truman State University that she discovered her true passion, working with young adults in the university setting. She is excited to be a part of this great UMKC Health and Wellness Team. During her time off she enjoys hiking, traveling, volunteering, cooking, and spending time with her family.
