All Missouri residents, including lawful permanent residents, pay a lower tuition rate than out-of-state students in the same program. However, we offer additional generous tuition discounts for residents of some other states and the military, as well as provide some scholarships for nonresident students.
The Heartland Rate automatically offers a tuition discount for all undergraduate students who are residents of Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas or Wisconsin.
We offer in-state tuition to all undergraduate students from Kansas and graduate students from select counties in Kansas.
Graduate students — with the exception of those enrolled in law, medicine, dentistry and pharmacy professional programs — who live in the Kansas City Metro area can qualify for the Metro Rate.
Residents of Wisconsin, Kansas, Ohio, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Illinois, Indiana and North Dakota enrolled in select graduate programs are eligible for the MSEP discounted rate.
Active military members, as well as those who have been honorably or generally discharged, who are currently living in Missouri or Kansas qualify for the Military Rate. Military spouses and dependents also qualify for this rate.
If you can provide proof of residency in Missouri or Kansas for the 12 months before the semester starts, you may submit an in-state residency status application form and the required documents, along with a $250 non-refundable processing fee. You must be enrolled for the term for which you are petitioning.
