Enrollment Confirmation Deadline Extended

The UMKC priority confirmation deadline for Fall 2024 has been extended to May 15 to allow for FAFSA processing.

New Student Orientation

New Student Orientation is an exciting day packed with activities to prepare new Roos for success at UMKC. You'll make connections with other students, learn about campus resources and services, navigate campus and explore student organizations. 

Who Attends New Student Orientation?

Required

  • All new, first-time college students and students transferring 24 or fewer credits who are starting in the Fall or Summer
  • All new, degree-seeking international students must attend International Student Orientation, held on the Thursday before the start of classes each Fall and Spring

Recommended

  • All new, first-time college students and students transferring 24 or fewer credits who are starting in the Spring
  • Students transferring 24 or more credit hours should first meet with their academic advisor, then attend
  • Up to two parents, family members, guardians or other close relatives. Cost per guest is $25.  

Not required

  • Online learners

How to Register for New Student Orientation

  • Before you can schedule your New Student Orientation, you must pay your confirmation fee to accept your offer of admission.
    • Already accepted your offer of admission? Log in to your application status page to select a date and register. You can reschedule up to 10 days before the first scheduled date, as long as your preferred session is not full, by logging into the application status page again. 
  • Set up your UMKC single sign-on (SSO) username and password in Pathway. You will need the temporary password that was emailed to you when you applied to UMKC to set up your new password. If you no longer have the temporary password, follow the steps to create a new password.
  • Complete the New Student Orientation Module on your application status page at least two weeks before you're scheduled to attend Orientation. All first-time college students will also complete the pre-enrollment survey on your application status page.
  • Request your student ID, known as the Roo Card.

  • 8:30 a.m. Check-in and campus resource fair
  • 9:20 a.m. Welcome from UMKC leadership and Orientation leaders
  • 9:30 a.m. Success Services
  • 9:40 a.m. Roadmap to Success
  • 10:10 a.m. Roo-to-Roo session and student organization fair 
  • 11:00 a.m. Academic program session
  • Noon — Rotation 1: lunch or community wellness overview
  • 12:45 p.m. Rotation 2: lunch or community wellness overview
  • 1:30 p.m.- Afternoon activities
