Medical plans
UMKC offers all regular, full-time employees medical plans through UnitedHealthcare. Preventive services are covered 100% for in-network providers.

Dental plans
Dental benefits are available through Delta Dental. Two coverage options are available, the Dental Base Plan and the Dental Buy Up Plan.

Vision plan
The Vision Plan is administered by VSP and utilizes the VSP Choice network. The plan provides a discounted group rate; that discounted group rate is available at all locations where the insurance is accepted.

Life insurance
All regular, full-time employees receive employer paid life insurance equal to their annual salary. You may purchase additional plans for yourself, your spouse or your dependents.

Long-term disability insurance
Regular, full-time employees are given a choice of two levels, the Core Plan or the Buy-up Plan. The Core Plan provides a benefit amount of 60% of base salary, while the Buy-up Plan provides the benefit amount of 66.67% of base salary.

Short-term disability insurance
The Short-Term Disability (STD) Base Plan is paid by the university, and eligible employees are automatically enrolled.

Accidental death and dismemberment insurance
For active employees, Accidental Death and Dismemberment insurance is 100% employee-paid and is available in increments of $25,000 up to a maximum of $150,000. You may also purchase coverage for your family as a percentage of your own coverage.
