An emergency is a situation in which there is a genuine and sometimes immediate threat to your health or safety. Although losing your luggage or tickets is inconvenient, neither of these situations qualifies as an emergency. While rare, sometimes Study Abroad participants experience an emergency situation while abroad.
If you're experiencing an emergency, contact UMKC Police, the U.S. embassy in your host country or the emergency number for your country.
If you lose your passport, contact the nearest U.S. embassy as soon as possible.
To call a person in another country from the United States or Canada, dial 011 + country code + area code + phone number. International calls may come with additional fees. Contact your phone service provider for more details.

Share your experiences with us on @umkcstudyabroad and encourage other Roos to study in another country.
If you enroll in courses not listed on your Program Budget and Course Approval Form, contact your academic advisor and our office to start the approval process for the new course. This is essential for receiving academic credit for the new course upon completion of your program.
Those studying abroad for a semester or a year may need to contact their academic advisor to enroll in UMKC courses for the next semester.
Official transcripts from the institution where you are studying are required. They may also be required for graduate school and fellowship applications.
Many program providers and exchange universities will automatically send a transcript on your behalf; however, we recommend that you order copies for yourself before you leave your host country.
