UMKC Campus Recreation Memberships include access to the updated fitness center with cardio and weight equipment, five multipurpose studios, indoor track, outdoor track, racquetball courts, 25-yard swimming pool, sauna and steam rooms, recreational field and locker rooms. The Swinney Center provides all members with daily lock and towel service. Sports equipment is available for check out at no additional cost from our Service Center.

All members and daily guests must be over the age of 18. If purchased online, government-issued identification with date of birth will be required when picking up a membership ID card or for use of a day pass. 

Please note, we only accept credit card or check for payment. No cash.

Membership Options

Student Summer Membership Options

  • Students enrolled in summer classes and paying the Student Life fee are automatically enrolled in our Student Summer Membership. Valid May 31st-August 8th
  • Fall enrolled students are eligible to purchase a non-fee paying Student Summer Memberships are for a one time payment of $17 online or in the Membership Office. Summer passes valid May 31st-August 8th 

This membership is for individuals not affiliated with UMKC. It includes alumni (graduation more than 12 months ago), constituents, lecturers, and continuing education faculty.

Parking passes for Community Members

Parking passes are available separately for community members and recent UMKC graduate members. Passes can be purchased in monthly increments from 1 month up to 12 months but cannot exceed the length of a current membership or membership agreement. All passes must be purchased in the Campus Recreation Membership Office.

$10/Month + $1.50 Fee/Parking Pass 

 

SINGLE DAY PASSES

1 Day Guest Passes are $11/day.

Purchase your day pass the same day you plan to utilize the pass in our Membership Office. Day Passes must be purchased in-person in the Membership Office.

A current member must be present with you in the Membership Office to be a sponsor when purchasing a Day Pass.

When you visit the facility, you are REQUIRED to have a government issued ID that includes your date of birth to show to the Welcome Desk attendant. All guest must be over the age of 18. 

Guest Passes are good for 1 calendar day. Guests may come and go during facility hours.

This membership is available for UMKC students currently enrolled in classes who pay the university Student Life fee. Students can verify their fee has been paid in Pathway.

This membership option is available to UMKC students who are taking non-fee bearing credits.
  • Current fee is $35 per Fall and Spring semester and $17 for the Summer semester. 
  • Part-Time or Online students may not be automatically assessed the fee. Instead, students can purchase the membership online at https://campusrec.umkc.edu

UMKC Recent Graduate status applies to individuals who have graduated from UMKC in the last 12 months.
  • Rate: $30/month
  • This rate is applied to membership purchases within the 12 months following graduation.
  • Must have GRADUATED from UMKC, not just attended, in the last 12 months.

This membership option is for UMKC payroll-compensated faculty and staff

Non Payroll Deduction 

  • Rate: $22.50/month

Payroll Deduction

  • Rate: $22.50/month
  • Must purchase in person at the Membership Office. See facility hours for hours of operation.
  • Faculty/Staff Member is responsible for canceling their payroll deduct and membership. The membership will be ongoing until the faculty/staff member cancels the membership.
  • To cancel your payroll deduction membership, you must complete the payroll cancellation form by the deadlines listed below.
    • Employees paid bi-weekly must complete the form by the last day in the pay period.
    • Employees paid monthly must complete the form 72 hours prior to the payroll change forms deadline.
    • Please review the schedules below for deadlines.

 

Faculty/Staff members who would like access to the Hospital Hill gym location will need to request access by emailing umkccampusrec@umkc.edu

 

New UMKC payroll-compensated faculty and staff are eligible for a one time discount of 50% off their first month. This discount cannot be combined with payroll deduct. Visit the membership office to redeem this discount and sign up!

MEMBERSHIP HANDBOOK

Please consult your physician regarding your ability and preparedness to participate in the various activities offered. The University assumes that users of the center have verified their health/fitness with their personal physicians and that they assume their own risk in participating.

All members and daily guests must be over the age of 18. If purchased online, government-issued identification with date of birth will be required when picking up a membership ID card or for use of a day pass. 

There is no free parking at UMKC, day or night. Please visit Parking and Transportation to learn more about parking on campus and download the campus map to view spaces. Community Members may purchase a parking pass with their membership if desired.

Cancellation of an individual membership will be allowed only under special circumstances. There will be no cancellation privileges with student memberships. Refunds for memberships will only be granted for one of the following reasons:

  • Employment from UMKC is terminated. Verification will be made with Human Resources.       
  • Medical emergencies that inhibit members from utilizing Swinney Center. Written documentation is required from a physician.

 

 

All members will be required to use a Campus Rec/UMKC ID for entrance to the facility.

If you forget your I.D. Card, we can look you up by your phone number. You can forget your card 3 times a semester. After the 3rd time, you won’t be able to access the facility without your I.D. Card.  

All members are able to rent daily locks for free. Overnight locks can be purchased for $10 per month in the membership office. (Locker rentals must coincide with an active membership).
