Campus Recreation offers spaces for our campus and community to use when the facility is open and there are no reservations.

Open Recreation takes place when there are no standing reservations and the building is open. Courts are available on first come first served basis. Equipment is available for checkout at the Service Center. 

If you are wanting to reserve space for a student organization or community group, visit our Reservation and Rental Page.

Equipment checkout for various activities is available at the Service Center on the first floor of Swinney Center on UMKC's Volker Campus.

All of the following items are available for checkout:

  • Badminton Birdies, Nets, and Racquets
  • Daily Rental Locks
  • Footballs
  • Futsal
  • Men and Women Basketballs
  • Racquetball Racquets and Balls
  • Soccer Balls
  • Volleyballs
  • Towels
  • Board games
  • Hammocks
  • Pickleball net, paddles, ball
  • Table tennis paddles/balls

There are several different spaces available for you to use at our facilities. These include:

  • Multipurpose courts (basketball, indoor soccer, volleyball, pickleball, badminton, etc.)
  • Three-lane indoor track
  • Three fitness studios (group fitness, dance, functional training, etc.)
  • Six-lane swimming pool
  • Two racquetball courts and one squash court
  • Synthetic turf field (football, soccer, softball, field day activities, etc.)
