The vice provost for faculty affairs provides leadership and support in all faculty-related matters, including coordination and oversight of the campuswide promotion and tenure process, faculty evaluation, faculty awards, faculty hiring and new faculty orientation. In addition, the vice provost for faculty affairs oversees faculty support and development initiatives including the Faculty Center for Excellence in Teaching (FaCET) and the Division of Instructional Design and Technology Services (IDTS). The vice provost for faculty affairs is also responsible for ensuring compliance with all faculty-related policies, including the Standards of Faculty Conduct and the Academic Grievance Procedure.
Director of instructional support serves as campus liaison to the Office of eLearning (OeL) with primary role of facilitating OeL-to-campus communication and raising awareness among UMKC faculty of OeL resources and programs. In addition, the director will coordinate programming within the Teaching and Learning pillar, develop and deliver faculty support workshops and resources focused on face-to-face and hybrid instruction and meet regularly with academic units to assess and address instructional support needs.
As director of faculty support, Dr. Petri works with the vice provost for faculty affairs to facilitate, design, coordinate, advertise, implement, assess and document outcomes of UMKC’s faculty development and support programs. Dr. Petri serves as pillar lead for Research and Creativity in the Center for Advancing Faculty Excellence, or CAFE. She also directs the Office of Research Development, which is part of the Office of Research Services. Currently, Dr. Petri is part of 2 funded National Science Foundation projects. Dr. Petri has an appointment as Associate Research Professor to the Division of Educational Leadership, Policy, and Foundations in the School of Education.
CAFÉ lead for faculty life and leadership serves to develop and coordinate programming and resources for faculty at all stages of their academic career. Faculty development opportunities include a year long New Faculty Development Series, an early career Art of Teaching faculty learning community, as well as microcredentialing opportunities focused on Inclusive Teaching for Equitable Learning.
