First-Year Council
The First-Year Council (FYC) is composed of a maximum of 20 members. These members are selected through a process determined by the FYC directors serving for the academic year. The FYC is tasked with learning about campus resources and campus life, while also addressing issues directly related to the first-year student experience. The 20 members take part in weekly leadership and team development trainings facilitated by the FYC director. Members of the FYC have the ability to co-author and present bills with a senator on the senate floor.
FYC Responsibilites
- Develop an understanding of SGA and its procedures
- Develop an understanding of campus resources and dynamics
- Investigate student concerns and develop solutions to those concerns
- Prepare for possible Senator or SAFC committee roles in the future
