We encourage all students and potential applicants to lean more about the positions with Campus Recreation and only apply to the ones they feel most eligible. We receive 50-250 applications for each position, so it is important to us that your materials stand out. We are looking for people who are passionate about the potential role or who have previous experience.
After the hiring period closes, a supervisor will reach out to you to move forward with an interview. You will hear either way via email if you did or did not receive a position with the department.
If offered the position, please see the next section “required documents” to understand what Human Resources requires you to do in the next steps. We can only proceed to train and schedule you once the hiring process is completed by HR. Please be patient as the hiring process sometimes takes weeks to complete before you may be added to the schedule.
The UMKC Career Services team has put together many resources that are helpful when preparing for an employment application. Please look over this document before you submit your application. We recommend reviewing "Creating an Effective Resume," "Resume Samples," and "Succeed in the Interview".
Upon your hire offer, you will receive an email from a member of the UMKC Human Resources team. Please respond in a timely manner and be prepared to have the following information and original documents available in-person for processing.
Campus Recreation would not be able to achieve its mission without the contributions from our student employees. Student staff learn the skills necessary to complete the job, and also learn transferable skills which will prepare them for their future careers.
Campus Recreation offers required and recommended supplemental opportunities for student employees to develop skills in four areas: Job Skills, Leadership Skills, Career Readiness Skills, and Multicultural Skills.
