General Education Executive Committee
Charge
Maintains the general education program in alignment with existing requirements of Higher Learning Commission Assumed Practice and the Missouri House Bill 2651: Higher Education Core Curriculum Transfer Act.
As the primary recommending body for all policy related to general education curriculum and overlap with broader program requirements, the General Education Curriculum Committee approves all course proposals to meet the UMKC Essentials General Education curriculum and specified student learning outcomes, as approved by Faculty Senate. The GECC is responsible for support of faculty teaching, course development and assessment with the mission of maintaining and refining the program, which is developed from a student-centric and data-driven perspective.
