Academic Integrity and Student Code of Conduct

The Board of Curators of the University of Missouri recognizes that academic integrity is essential for the intellectual life of the University. Faculty members have a special obligation to expect high standards of academic integrity in all student work. Students have a special obligation to adhere to such standards. Academic dishonesty, including cheating, plagiarism, unauthorized use of artificially generated content, or sabotage, is adjudicated through the University of Missouri Student Conduct Code and Rules of Procedures in Student Conduct Matters.

Reporting

Consistent reporting

We are responsible for upholding the University of Missouri Student Standard of Conduct. Reporting suspected academic dishonesty to the academic integrity team within the provost’s office allows our campus to:

  1. Engage students in educational conversations regarding academic integrity at our university;
  2. Support decisions made by the faculty to reduce a student’s grade due to academic misconduct that may be questioned in a student’s grade appeal;
  3. Identify students engaging in repeated academic misconduct in multiple courses.

Timeline policies of reporting

Once an instructor suspects that a student has violated academic integrity standards, the instructor should report a suspected incident within 10 calendar days of detection, but in no case longer than 14 calendar days after detection.

Submitting a report

Click on the appropriate incident reporting form below. Each user is authenticated through the University of Missouri system portal to prohibit false reporting. Please note that you must have the student ID number to proceed with the incident report. Cases entered using the student email address without the student ID number will not connect to a student. This electronic submission process creates efficiencies for each user within the process and must be used moving forward rather than the previous paper form submission process. Users can enter case details and upload and submit all supporting documentation electronically using this new system.

If you experience difficulties during this data entry process, please contact our office for assistance. We appreciate your patience as we implement the use of Maxient the student conduct software.
