Eduroam WiFi Network

Eduroam is a way for educational faculty, staff and students to connect to the WIFI in participating educational organizations. For more information on the eduroam initiative visit https://www.eduroam.org. Multiple failed attempts may cause your device to be temporary blocked for up to 15 minutes.

Note: If you still have issues please “forget network” before connecting to eduroam.

Select your operating system for detailed instructions

iOS / iPhone / iPad / iPod tap

  1. Tap 'Settings'
  2. Tap 'Wi-Fi'
  3. Under 'Choose a Network' tap on 'eduroam'
  4. Enter your UMKC username and password, with your username in the format: sso@umsystem.edu.
  5. Tap 'Join'
  6. You will be prompted to accept a certificate from 'InCommon Server CA'. tap 'Trust'.
      

  7. You are now connected to the eduroam network.
  8. Note: If the screen gets stuck with the message 'joining' click cancel and start over. Periodically the iPhone will not catch on the first try.

Android

  1. These instructions assume this is not the first setup of the Android device. The Android Operating System has a reputation of varying slightly from one manufacturer to another. There may be small differences in the settings but they should be very close to the following:
  2. Tap the Menu Key then select 'Settings'.
  3. Tap 'Wireless and network'.
  4. Select Wi-Fi settings.
  5. The device will automatically locate available networks.
  6. Tap eduroam,
  7. Select EAP Method: PEAP
  8. Identity: UMKCSSO@umsystem.edu
  9. Password: UMKC Password

  10. CA Certificate: Don’t Validate
  11. Tap Connect


  12. You are now connected to the eduroam network. 

Windows 10

  1. Click the Ethernet/Wireless button on the bottom right corner of the taskbar.

  2. You should see a list of available wireless SSIDs. Select eduroam and click Connect.

  3. Click connect to trust the eduroam certificate. You will need to trust the certificate at each location you visit.

  4. Enter your UMKC username and password in the format: SSO@umsystem.edu

  5. Once you see the following connected, secured box you are on the eduroam network.

Mac OSX

  1. From the desktop, click on the wireless icon on the top right menu bar. You should see a list of SSID on the screen. Select eduroam.

  2. Enter your UMKC username and password in the format: SSO@umsystem.edu.

  3. You will be prompted to accept a certificate from ‘InCommon Server CA’ click continue.

  4. You are now connected to the eduroam network.
