Daly comes to UMKC with more than 20 years of experience in higher education, most recently serving as dean of international education at Emporia State University. He also spent time in various roles at Grand View University in Des Moines and the University of Kansas, where he earned his Ph.D. in Germanic languages and literatures.
Daly earned a master’s degree from the University of Indiana and completed his bachelor’s degree from State University of New York at Oswego. He also enjoyed time abroad during his education, spending a year studying in Germany as a German Academic Exchange Service Fellow.
In the classroom, Daly specializes in teaching the German language, German culture and even taught a class on King Arthur. He also speaks five languages: English, German, Spanish, French and Dutch.
Daly is succeeding Joy Stevenson, who retired earlier this year.
