Lowe weaved her personal stories into large, national projects to make histories more visible that have been invisible or ignored, such as the "Away from Home: American Indian Boarding School Stories" project. Lowe inspired us, and we hope her visits with those doing that work here in Missouri – including our very own UMKC History professor Diane Mutti Burke – inspired her as well.
