Exchange Online Migration
UM System is in the process of migrating email mailboxes from residing locally in Columbia to the cloud-based Office 365 platform. This will bring greater integration with other Office 365 applications, shared calendars with students, greater security and improved reliability.
While most of this process will be transparent to faculty and staff, mobile devices and bookmarks to Outlook Web Access could be impacted.
You can expect an email from UM System with more info prior to your mailbox being migrated. Learn more at our Migration FAQ or our updated Email website.
Workstation Replacement Program (WRP)
Information Services just completed the annual Workstation Replacement Program, which included the bulk ordering of over 300 workstations. This is the first year we’ve had more laptops than desktops purchased, which represents the current work- and teach-at-home environment.
Delivery of workstations is expected to Information Services within the next few weeks, with deployments to faculty and staff following thereafter.
Zoom Update
On Jan. 18, Information Services updated Zoom on all Windows and Mac computers to version 5.4.7. While Zoom auto-updates on most computers, this update ensures that the campus community is using the latest version of Zoom. This version includes all recent security updates as well as many feature updates, such as improved polling during live sessions, improved grouping of security options when scheduling meetings and many bug fixes.
More information on Zoom can be found on the UMKC Zoom or UM System Zoom pages.
Microsoft Windows 10 Upgrades
Windows upgrades are crucial to ensure you have the latest features and security updates. Microsoft releases upgrades to Windows 10 twice a year, in the spring and fall.
In order to provide the most flexibility to faculty and staff we are introducing the ability to run this upgrade at a time convenient for you. Starting on Jan. 11, if you are running an outdated version of Windows, you’ll receive a popup in the system tray prompting you to take action. For more information, please visit our Windows 10 Self-Service Upgrades webpage.
