About

Jacob Jardel (he/him) is native CHamoru of Guam and an I.Ph.D. student in English and curriculum & instruction. A former Graduate Teaching Assistant in English, his dissertation work focuses on decolonized approaches to first-year composition, focusing heavily on how his native culture can help bring writers closer to home in whatever form that takes. He loves working with personal statements and other narrative-like assignments because, to him, all writing is a story, and his goal is to help all writers feel confident about and find home when telling their stories, personal or otherwise. That means brainstorming ideas that fit your story, writing in a way that matches your voice, or otherwise explaining work in ways that help make sense for you. The goal is not just to put words on a page—it's to put you on a page. Outside of the Writing Studio, Jacob enjoys building Magic: The Gathering decks, playing video games, analyzing pro wrestling, and spending hours watching baseball and YouTube with his partner and his cat.
