Respondus is a powerful tool for creating and managing exams that can be printed to paper or published directly to Blackboard. Exams can be created offline using a familiar Windows environment program (like Microsoft Word) or moved from one eLearning system to another. Whether you are a veteran of online testing or relatively new to it, Respondus can save you hours on each project. Respondus LockDown Browser
The Respondus LockDown Browser is a custom browser that locks down the testing environment within Blackboard. When students use LockDown Browser, they are unable to print, copy, go to another URL, or access other applications. When an assessment is started, students are locked into it until they submit it for grading. For more information regarding Lockdown Browser, please see the Blackboard site "Information for UMKC Blackboard Instructors." All UMKC faculty are automatically enrolled in this site.

An online tool for users to exchange files without the size restriction of an email system. The RooBox service complies as a Secure File Transfer service, as per the UM-System requirements for DCL-3 and DCL-4 file transfers listed at: https://www.umsystem.edu/ums/is/infosec/standards-transmission This service can be used to request files to be securely sent to you, and can be used to send files to others securely.

The RooLabs Online portal provides real time information regarding capacities of student computing labs located on campus, how many machines are currently in use in each lab, and provides free remote access to lab software. You can plan ahead before making a trip to a lab, or simply connect to the lab from the convenience of your own device. Connecting remotely to a lab in RooLabs Online will be a similar experience to using an on-campus lab. If you have access to a general lab or departmental lab on-campus that participates in RooLabs Online, you can remotely access ALL of the same software via RooLabs Online.
The Optical Scanning office located at 004B Cockefair Hall provides scanning services for UMKC faculty and staff for items such as the scoring of multiple-choice "bubble-sheet" tests (scantrons), grade reporting, course evaluation processing, and survey/questionnaire data processing.
SharePoint is a collaboration tool for enhancing the efforts to share and organize information among various individuals and team members. SharePoint can be customized to fit the needs of the team or organization. Various site templates are available for use, including team site, basic meeting templates.

Microsoft Teams is a collaboration tool designed to allow groups of people to work together on an initiative. All the team's content, people, tools and conversations are available in the Teams workspace. Teams integrates with Microsoft Office applications and is accessible through the cloud.

The UMKC Information Services Technology Support Center serves as the front-line, technical support contact for the university. The main purpose of the Technology Support Center is to provide exceptional technical support to current students, faculty and staff by resolving computer-related issues. We promise not only to provide technology solutions, but to listen and work with the UMKC community to exceed expectations.

Cadence is an SMS communication platform that allows UMKC departments to have meaningful, two-way conversations with students. Cadence provides unlimited texting and associated numbers as well as connections with Slate. This service is fully funded by Information Services so there are no additional costs for individual departments or groups.

The Turnitin Suite makes grading student papers paperless and efficient. It is comprised of the Turnitin Originality Checker, GradeMark and PeerMark. The Originality Checker compares each student's submitted paper to millions of print and online resources. GradeMark allows instructors to easily insert comments into student papers online. PeerMark facilitates a peer review of a Turnitin assignment based on criteria set by the instructor. As all three tools are tied together, the instructor can toggle between the Originality Report, PeerMark peer reviews (if applicable) and GradeMark pages while grading a student's paper, making it easier to get a 'big picture' of each student's performance without jumping between programs and windows. The grade can be entered on the same page and will automatically be entered into the Blackboard Grade Center. With one click of an arrow, the instructor can move to the next student's submission.

The UMKC VPN client provides a secure connection to your personal and web page storage via the N: and Q: drives for Windows 7/Vista/XP computers.
