Giving Students a Voice

The Student Government Association (SGA) is the governing body of the students at the UMKC. SGA represents the student body in matters of budget allocation, legislation drafting and adherence to judicial rules and procedures on campus.

What We Do

The SGA serves as the head of the student body at UMKC. Our duty is to govern and act on the will of the majority while protecting the interest of the minority. We stand for, defend and support students in all matters of campus life.

How to cast your vote

There are several annual elections held on campus, including executive board and student senate elections. Executive board and student senate elections are held in March and all UMKC students are welcome to vote. You can also learn how to vote in local, state-wide and national elections.

First-Year Council

First-Year Council is a 20-person council, which allows first-year UMKC students the opportunity to immediately get involved with SGA and make change on campus. FYC membership is determined by the FYC directors serving for the academic year.
